Wolverines 69 – 48 Rajaritarit
Wow. Basketball anyone? Score, score, score, score, score. On another scorcher of a day (and with our opponents wearing black again – bad move) this game never looked like anything other than a shootout. With the scores 27-27 at half time, the objective in the second half became stopping the opposition JUST ONCE! As it turns out we managed a few stops in the fourth quarter but it is difficult to concede 48 points and celebrate a win. With so much scoring, the game lasted three and a half hours (with twelve minute quarters) and once again, our defence spent the majority of it on the field while our offence posted up drives of two or three plays at a time.

But….. the bottom line is that we made it. A win is a win and now we have secured our playoff spot. We have three tough games to finish the regular season and hopefully take home field advantage in the semi final. In three weeks we play the Saints, who have been improving their squad since the week one when we gave them a bit of a thrashing. Then we finish with back to back games against the Crocodiles and Roosters, with the possibility of seeing either of them in the playoffs.
For now, we have two weeks to rest while the European championships are on in Germany. Finland are in a group with Germany and Austria, while Great Britain face Sweden and France. Best of luck to both teams. Apologies that I haven’t been keeping this up to date again, but what with College work and parents visiting its been a tad hectic. Who knows if it will improve.
